Springfield College Office of Housing & Residence Life Check In Information
Get Checked In
Friday, Aug. 29, 8:30 a.m.-noon
Students who are required to attend pre-season athletic programs or Pre-Camp will receive notification from their coach/advisor regarding their specific arrival date and time. These students will be the only students provided housing before Aug. 29.
When students arrive to campus they should report directly to their residence halls for check-in.
Students may make an appointment to drop off their belongings on Thursday, Aug. 28, from 5-7 p.m. This is not a time when students may move in to their residence halls. The Office of Housing & Residence life cannot accommodate requests for early arrivals. Students who need to drop of belongings during this time should call the Office of Housing & Residence Life at (413) 748-3102 to schedule an appointment beginning Aug. 18.
Check Out Your New Space
The rooms in each residence hall are furnished with the following:
- Single bed
- Desk and chair
It is the responsibility of the student to supply items such as lamps, comforters, towels, linens (residence hall beds have 80-inch mattresses that require extra-long twin sheets), curtains, pillows, wastebaskets, and other miscellaneous items. Room and window dimensions vary greatly in size throughout each residence hall, so students are encouraged to wait to purchase curtains and carpets until after they have arrived. If a student prefers to purchase a rug prior to arrive on the campus, a 5’x8’ area rug will fit in any of the rooms.
Kitchen areas are available in each residence hall for student use.
Items to Leave at Home
The following items are not permitted in student rooms:
- Regular microwaves
- Hot plates
- George Foreman grills
- Air conditioners
- Candles or incense
- Halogen/black lights
- Toaster ovens
All coffee makers need to have an automatic shut off. Cinder blocks also are not permitted for use in the residence halls. Bed raisers are allowed and can be purchased at Wal-Mart or Costco.
Fulfill Late Night Cravings: Micro-fridges
Students who would like to request a micro-fridge can complete the micro-fridge contract, which can be found through PrideNET, and mail it to Springfield College, Office of Housing & Residence Life, 263 Alden Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Students will be notified via their Springfield College email if a unit has been awarded to them.
There will be no lofts and no furniture removal allowed. All furniture in the room must remain in the room for the duration of the year. Students may not take pieces home and return them at the end of the year.
Monthly residence life updates will be posted on PrideNET. Students should check it periodically so they are aware of upcoming events and residence hall information. Students are required to check their Springfield College email, per the College’s student handbook. Failure to check the website and/or email account will hinder students from being updated on events and deadlines. The Office of Housing & Residence Life will not make any exceptions or extensions to deadlines as the information will be provided to students in a timely manner.
