Mini Scholars in Action Presentations and Reception
Springfield College Museum, Judd Gymnasia

This mini-showcase highlights some of last year’s Scholars in Action Day presentations to provide a glimpse into of some of the incredible work students are accomplishing at Springfield College. Scholars in Action Day takes place in mid-April and gives Springfield College undergraduate students an opportunity to showcase their achievements and share their research and creative activities with the College community. The event is open to juniors and seniors engaging in activities that are worthy of conference presentations. Presentations in the form of posters, papers, works of art, literature readings, music, theater, and dance enable students from many departments to come together and celebrate. This session will feature some of our top presenters from across all majors and programs.

Family-frenzied Bingo

Springfield College students love to participate in monthly bingo. Get in on the fun with Family-Frenzied Bingo, which offers a chance for participants to win some amazing prizes. This event is hosted by the Campus Activities Board and the Office of Student Activities and Campus Union.

For First-year Families
This special breakfast for first-year families kicks off a full day of activities. Get an inside view on what makes Springfield College a success. Meet other parents and members of the College staff. This event is hosted by the Office of Development.

Academic Open Houses and Showcase

Presented by Springfield College students and faculty members, this event is a must-see interactive sampling of recent research projects.

10:30 to 11 a.m.
Study Abroad Information Session

Study abroad programs are one way that college students are introduced to other cultures. An encounter with different values, educational methods, and foreign cultures can broaden a student’s understanding of the world. Whether students are pursuing a career in education, allied health, business, or another field, developing an awareness of and sensitivity to the global issues that directly and indirectly influence all of our lives is important.

Family Fun on the Green

Enjoy some time on the lawn with inflatables, music, and more. Family members can have their portrait drawn by caricature artists and take home souvenirs, including a mug and a brand new cell phone cover featuring personalized photos.

Join Shannon Finning, the new vice president for student affairs, and Ryan Carrie, president of the Student Government Association, for coffee and conversation. As the Division of Student Affairs works to articulate the optimal student experience for Springfield College students, we would like to engage with families and friends to hear your thoughts and feedback about our initial priorities. General questions are also welcome. Coffee, cider, and refreshments will be served.

Magician, and Balloon Artist

as a stand-up comedian, magician, or Guinness Book of World Records®
celebrity. He has been a guest on Late Night with Conan O’Brien,
Martha Stewart Living, The Weakest Link, NBC’s Today Show,
Live! With Regis and Kelly, and The Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon.

Late Night at the Wellness Center

End your evening with the Campus Recreation staff as they showcase
the Wellness Center and Field House. Participate in recreational activities,
scale the climbing wall, and join in on fun games for all family members.

Join us for a lovely brunch beneath the tent at President Mary-Beth Cooper’s house. Our innovative chefs have created a breakfast masterpiece that will be a great finish to an awesome weekend.

 

Special Notes to Attendees

Alcohol

Springfield College alcohol policies prohibit use or being in the presence of alcohol by anyone under 21 years of age. Alcohol is also not to be consumed in any public area, including parking lots (with the exception of the designated tailgaiting parking lot) and athletic fields. For further information regarding the Springfield College alcohol policy, please refer to springfieldcollege.edu/studenthandbook.

Parking

Parking is permitted in designated locations on campus. Parking is not permitted on public or College roadways. Handicap parking is available and designated in all campus parking lots.

Pets

Please be advised that with the exception of guide and assist dogs, no pets shall be permitted on any athletic field or playing surface or in any building on-campus. Pet care is the responsibility of the owner.

Recreational Vehicles

Springfield College can not accommodate power hook-ups for recreational vehicles on campus.

Use of the Wellness & Recreation Complex

Family members 18 years of age or older may use the facility with their Springfield College student. Students must present their Springfield College student ID and family members must present a photo ID along with their Family Weekend nametag. Guest fees for our registered weekend guests will be waived.
