Springfield College encourages graduate students to live in College-owned housing and consider themselves “at home” in the vibrant campus community. There are many options for graduate students, both on and off campus. On campus, there are apartments in the Graduate Living Center and Graduate Annex. Off campus, there are two apartment buildings adjoining the campus, as well as various apartments and individual homes in the surrounding neighborhood. Eight houses clustered together just off campus comprise the Graduate Village.
Most students share living space with one or more roommates, each with their own bedroom. Accommodations may also be made for married students. On-campus residence units blend the independence of apartment-style living with regard for economy— heat, electricity, hot water, local phone service, and maintenance are all included in the occupancy fee.
Kakley Graduate AnnexThe Grad Annex features six townhouse-style apartments, each accommodating four students, which offer private bedrooms with telephone hookups and voicemail. Residents share a kitchen/dining area, living room, and two bathrooms.
Graduate VillageThe Graduate Village, located on the edge of campus, gives students all the convenience of living on campus, but offers a more autonomous lifestyle. Students have separate bedrooms and share all common areas, with three or four residents per house. Utilities and telephone service with voicemail are included.
College-owned ApartmentsCollege-owned apartments are located within easy walking distance of the campus. Each offers two to four private bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, and bathroom. The apartments are furnished with beds, desks, dressers, chairs, sofas, and appliances. Laundry facilities and parking are also available nearby. The rent for the academic year includes heat and utilities. Residents are responsible for their own telephone service. Married couples are housed in two-bedroom units.
Graduate Housing Services
Each apartment/house has a security alarm system that is connected to the Springfield College Department of Public Safety. Escort service is also provided by the Department of Public Safety for students walking through the campus during evening hours.
Free laundry facilities are located near all College housing areas.
All graduate students are encouraged to sign up for an on-campus mailbox, located in the Richard B. Flynn Campus Union.
