Springfield College Physical Therapy Department Hosts Greene Memorial Lecture

The Springfield College Department of Physical Therapy hosted the annual Greene Memorial Lecture featuring Patricia J. Ohtake, PT, PhD on Thursday, April 10, in the Cleveland E. and Phyllis B. Dodge Room in the Campus Union. Dr. Ohtake presented, “Rehabilitation for People with Critical Illness: Taking the Next Steps.” The lecture was free and open to the public.
Dr. Ohtake is an associate professor in the physical therapy program at the University of Buffalo. Her research focuses on efficacy of clinical interventions for patients with acute and critical illness, and the use of simulation for physical therapist and interprofessional education.
Along with her faculty duties, Dr. Ohtake also serves on the editorial board for the official journal of the American Physical Therapy Association entitled, Physical Therapy (PTJ). She was the guest editor for the PTJ special series on the rehabilitation for people with critical illness published in December 2012 and February 2013. The series featured 22 articles published by physical therapists and other researchers from around the globe.
Dr. Ohtake has more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, two book chapters, and has been a consistent presenter at chapter, national, and international conferences. In 2000, she earned the American Physical Therapy Association Margaret L. Moore Award given annually to an outstanding new faculty member.
The Greene Memorial Lecture is the premiere scholarly event of the Springfield College Department of Physical Therapy. The lectureship was initiated in memory of Jean Greene by her husband, Edwin Greene, who graduated from Springfield College in 1935.
