Medical Rehabilitation
Program in Medical RehabilitationStudents selecting this program prepare for positions in medical, social service, or educational settings associated with helping people with chronic illness and disabilities develop functional capabilities for independent and productive living. Qualified students may be selected to prepare for advanced study at the certificate or master’s degree level in such areas as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, and other medical-related allied health careers.
Course requirements:
1. All College Requirements
2. General Rehabilitation major requirements
(Including Practicum and Internship)
3. Medical Rehabilitation Program Requirements:
RHDS 370: Interviewing and Case Study Methods 3 S.H.
CMDS 456: Rehabilitation in Speech & Language Disorders 3 S.H.
RHDS 489: Cardiac Rehabilitation 3 S.H.
RHDS 491: Neurological Rehabilitation 3 S.H.
Select two of the following:
RHDS 475: Integrated Medicine 3 S.H.
RHDS 485: Treatment Methods in Substance Abuse 3 S.H.
RHDS 499: Behavioral Medicine Approaches 3 S.H.
4. Related Electives
Prerequisite requirements for graduate study or certificate programs may vary from school to school. A strong Arts & Sciences background is also recommended. Students should become familiar with the specific prerequisites of a particular program of interest preferably not later than the junior year.BIOL 130/131: Anatomy and Physiology
