As a Springfield College-trained physical therapist you'll find immediate career opportunities, not to mention your choice of paths to further specialization in many exciting areas of clinical practice. You'll be well equipped with both a professional degree and eligibility to apply for a state license. Doors will open to you in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, hospices, public schools, home health-care facilities, and in wellness, prevention, or rehabilitation centers. You'll meet a continuing demand for innovative physical therapists.
There are two paths to the physical therapy program at Springfield College - entry as a freshman to the undergraduate Pre-Physical Therapy Bachelor of Science program with direct advancement to the DPT program, or as a graduate student applicant directly into the DPT program. Students in the physical therapy graduate program are awarded an entry-level clinical doctorate degree, DPT. Our students in the inaugural Doctor of Physical Therapy class were awarded DPT degrees in May, 2011.
The Physical Therapy Program at Springfield College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).* Coursework in physical therapy enables students to develop advanced problem-solving skills in examination, program planning, and treatment of those who need physical therapy services.
Graduates possess a broad knowledge in the science and practice of physical therapy, as well as a competency in administration and research. In addition, students have the opportunity for advanced study in selected areas of physical therapy.
