What Students Say
"My years in the rehabilitation department have been a learning experience that has enabled me to set my goals high and reach even higher. The entire department is welcoming and always there to guide me in the right direction. Any questions or problems that may (arise) were always answered correctly and given 100% of the professors thoughts and attention. They were there to challenge my knowledge, inspire me, and watch me achieve my goals. I am able to say that throughout my five years in the rehabilitation department, I feel close to my professors now and I know I will keep in touch in the future. "--Rebecca Davis
"I have had a chance to travel around the state and meet many colleagues and higher-ups in the Oregon Rehab system, and I am continuously impressed with the education I received at SC.!! I will be forever grateful that I received the high quality education that I did from Springfield College!"
--Dave King
"The professors in this department are extremely supportive. They want you to succeed. If you give them 100% they will give you 200% in return. They want you to succeed outside the classroom as well. Whenever I have an extracurricular event I know I can count on the rehab professors to be there to support me. Having that kind of support, in and out of the classroom, makes it really easy to do well here."
--Jessica (Carr) Stone
"Rehabilitation and Disability Studies has introduced me to the practice of Orthotics and Prosthetics, without it I would not have found my true calling."
--Ailisa Edwards
"I came into my college experience undecided in the career path I wanted to pursue. I searched for the field that would best fit my own interests and strengths, and in doing so decided on Rehabilitation as my undergraduate major. I would just like to say that matriculating into the Rehabilitation Program here at Springfield College was one of the best decisions of my life. After four years in the department I am graduating with my bachelor's in Rehabilitation and Disability Studies. The years I spent in the program have been such a positive life experience. The professors were so supportive, helpful, dedicated and caring to my every need.
"I knew that as an undergraduate my professors would always be there for me. As I am ready to move on and face new experiences, it is such a blessing to know that as I continue through the years I always have such a strong support system back at SC. I am now prepared and ready to move on embracing new experiences and exploring new possibilities. I just hope as I move on and pursue my Master's degree I will leave with (the) same positive experiences that I had at SC. I will truly miss the time I have spent at SC both socially and academically. I will carry with me all of my experiences and knowledge in all of my future endeavors."
--Wheaton Bash
"Since transferring into the major at the end of my sophomore year, I feel that I have found my home and a place I feel comfortable. There are many career paths one can choose in this field. The professors are genuine and sincere, and always willing to help out. There is just so much that you can do that you can grow and mature within the field. "
--Rich Schein
"I feel like the professors here are very accessible and are always willing to help. A wide variety of classes are offered that help prepare you for work or higher education. Coming from the south, I was surprised at how welcomed (the department made me feel)."
--Sherry Thrasher
"I enjoy my new job even though it is a lot different than the public sector. I realized that I have transferable skills too. I also wanted to reflect upon my experiences in the rehab dept and just commend the outstanding job that you and the faculty at SC have done. I am so happy I chose Rehab and SC as part of my career development."
--Sharon Correia
"The professors and advisors come from a background in human helping services and are always ready to help us. They often help us search for fieldwork opportunities. The RHDS major is a great entry level bachelor's program that leads to job opportunities or preparation for master's level programs."
