Children's Developmental Services
This concentration prepares students for positions in specialized services for children and developmentally delayed individuals is such areas as early intervention, preschool services, community special education, child care and youth services, child life, family, social/protective services, and vocational and residential settings. Employment roles include early intervention and respite specialist, case worker, job coach, residential counseling, pediatric counseling, child life and behavioral specialist and learning disabilities specialists. For some certifications, additional graduate work or interdisciplinary studies and field work may be required, especially in Early Intervention, Child Life, Rehabilitation Counseling and Special Education.

RHDS 442: Behavioral Techniques 3 S.H.
CMDS 456: Speech-Language Disorders 3 S.H.
RHDS 464: Rehab of Developmentally Disabled 3 S.H.
RHDS 483: Learning Disabilities 3 S.H.
RHDS 491: Neurological Rehab 3 S.H
Or
RHDS: 494 Psychiatric Rehab
4. Related Electives
Prerequisite requirements for graduate study or licensure may vary from school to school. A strong Arts & Sciences background is also recommended. Students should become familiar with the specific prerequisites of a particular program of interest preferably not later than their junior year. Examples include:
