Rehabilitation and Disability Studies

Rehabilitation and Disability Studies Are you interested in a rewarding program of study that prepares you for work in a rapidly growing area of the people-serving industry?  If you want to work with children, adults or elderly persons to enhance their quality of life, then the Rehabilitation and Disability Studies program at Springfield College is for you.

Our nationally recognized programs in Rehabilitation and Disability Studies offer a variety of courses of study designed to prepare graduates for the rapidly growing health and human services fields.

Rehabilitation and Disability Studies In accordance with the Humanics philosophy, students majoring in Rehabilitation and Disability Studies become prepared to work as industry icons. Our grads help people recognize their abilities and live full and productive lives.

Since the program’s founding in 1954, graduates of the Rehabilitation programs, many of whom hold leadership positions, are found across the country. Excellent employment opportunities exist in many different settings such as:

  • persons with physical disabilities
  • children who have special needs
  • persons with hearing or visual disorders
  • people with learning disabilities and differences
  • people with addictions and families of people with addictions
  • health related problems as the result of aging
  • people with developmental disabilities
  • athletes recovering from injuries
  • adolescents and young adults


The goal of our program is to prepare students to enter the field at the bachelor's degree level, or to enter a graduate program.

Curricula Requirements
The curriculum, which is nationally recognized and accredited, is designed to provide a broad based, lifespan perspective. A thorough combination of theory, application and fieldwork provides students with an excellent foundation of knowledge and skills.

Each degree candidate must complete Springfield College's General Education Requirements. All rehabilitation majors must complete 45 credits (13 classes) of departmental requirements, including a minimum of 18 credits of field experience. Visit this page for General Rehabilitation Requirements
