Rehabilitation and Disability Studies
Rehabilitation counseling is an exciting and growing human service field within the health care industry. Our primary goal is to increase a person’s physical, mental, and emotional quality of life. The demand for rehabilitation counselors has exceeded the supply by at least 25 percent in recent years. As such, there are many employment opportunities that await our graduates.
As our lifespan continues to grow and the population of people with disabilities and chronic illness living in the community increases, the role of the rehabilitation counselor will continue to be needed to counsel, support, train, and assist each child, adolescent, adult or elderly person striving for independence and productive living.
Our program is nationally recognized and accredited. Founded in 1954 we were the first rehabilitation counseling program in the country to begin educating students at the master's level. We bring that same professionalism and energy to the undergraduate program in rehabilitation and disability studies.
