Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) plays an interesting and varied role in today’s health-care system. Join us for an introduction to this increasingly popular area of treatment, as well as a discussion of CAM for the education of today’s health-care providers and current clinical research initiatives.

Chinese Medicine
11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
The history, principles, and systems of practice in Eastern medicine , especially traditional approaches used in Chinese medicine–such as acupuncture, tai chi, and qi-gong–will be discussed in this informative session. The effect of Chinese medicine on total body health will also be explored.

Energy Medicine: Using Spiritual Energy as a Therapeutic Modality
Explore the role of spirit in the mind, body, spirit triad. Energy medicine in both allopathic and complementary practice will also be featured, as well as techniques to sense your own energy field.

CAM: Discussion of Health Care Policy, Reimbursement, and Patient Care Delivery

Join in this engaging panel discussion on complementary and alternative medicine in health care policy and reimbursement. Current trends and future expectations for the recognition of CAM in public and private healthcare settings will also be explored.

Explore the principles of risk/benefit assessment and how they apply to the use of complementary/alternative medications while identifying confounding issues presented by the use of such remedies.

Integrative Manual Therapy
Discussion will focus on alternative physical modalities of integrative manual therapy in the treatment of various disorders that are generally treated with more conventional physical therapy interventions.
