Martin Luther King, Jr., Family Services Honors Richard B. Flynn
Area business and community leaders joined in saluting Springfield College President Richard B. Flynn at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Family Services’ 8th Annual Business Partnership Breakfast, on Dec. 10, 2009, at the Basketball Hall of Fame, in Springfield.Flynn was recognized for his “extraordinary leadership and service” to the Springfield community. Also honored were founders of youth services organizations Raymond Jordan, of the Springfield Academics, Athletics, Arts, Achievement Association (5A), and John and Geri Williams, of We Got Game.
“It is a privilege to honor these four individuals,” said Honorary Event Chair Paula Squires, senior vice president of human resources for Baystate Health, sponsor of the event. “Be it on the basketball court, inside the classroom, or on the college campus, they each have built their own healthy family, and they recognize the important role they play in building healthy communities. They are truly deserving of our recognition and our thanks for lending their wisdom, talent and passions in building the physical, spiritual and mental health of those whose lives they have touched.”
The breakfast is the primary fund-raising and recognition event of MLK Family Services. This year’s theme was “Healthy Families – Healthy Communities,” and the attendance was the largest ever.
