Brian Rose Completes Supreme Court Internship, Plans Career in International Law
|
Rose was selected to be one of two judicial interns in the Office of the Administrative Assistant (AA) to the Chief Justice from September through December 2007. Following his internship, he was hired to continue working in the same office.
“My time here in Washington has been an amazing experience,” he said. “I have been fortunate enough to work with people who have helped facilitate my continued, and hopefully future, employment here at the court. While the current position I fill is temporary, I am pursuing other more permanent positions within the court,” Rose added.
The AA and his staff assist the chief justice in his non-judicial duties. These include the overall management of the Supreme Court, assisting with ceremonial duties, and providing background materials and research for his public addresses and publications. The AA also serves as a liaison for the chief justice within the federal judiciary and with the executive and legislative branches.
“In my free time, I am continuing to study for the LSAT which I plan to take in June,” Rose said. “The office where I work hosts many foreign delegations and judges. My interactions with them have helped developed my strong interest in the field of international law. I am currently looking into dual degree programs that would allow me to get my juris doctorate and master’s degree simultaneously in a field such as international relations, diplomacy, or public policy with a concentration in international organizations,” he added.
Rose graduated from Springfield College summa cum laude. In addition to serving as a student trustee, which is a two-year commitment, he won the C. Wright Mills Outstanding Student Award in Social Science, and was a member of the Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology. A wide receiver on the football team for four years, he was an ESPN The Magazine District I Academic All-American in 2006, and Springfield College Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2007. “I owe a great deal to Springfield College,” he said.
