Information Session on Sports Camps
at Springfield College This Summer

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 24, 2007 – Springfield College will host an information session on youth sports camps that will be open to the public on its campus this summer. Coaches will answer questions, take registrations, and conduct campus tours on Sunday, April 29, from 1 to 4 p.m., in Dana Gym, in the Springfield College Physical Education Complex, on Alden St., Springfield.

There will be several one-week camps. Lacrosse will be open to boys; softball and lacrosse will be for girls; and tennis, gymnastics, soccer, and basketball will be co-ed. The football camp will be a one-week evening program. There will be two one-week day camps in field hockey and boys’ lacrosse.

Springfield College coaches, many of whom have led their teams to championships and have been named coach of the year in their programs, will run the youth summer sports camps. Assisting them will be collegiate student-athletes or other coaching professionals. Campers will learn, play and practice in campus athletic facilities including natural and FieldTurf® playing fields, tennis courts, and several gymnasia. Most programs will include lunch in campus dining facilities. Several programs will include recreational swimming in the natatorium.

Springfield College sponsors the camps in football, tennis, softball, gymnastics and soccer. Camps sponsored by the college’s coaches are in field hockey, lacrosse, volleyball, basketball and wrestling.
