Charles Redmond To Be Inducted Into NATA Hall Of Fame
The National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) will induct Charles J. Redmond, chair of the Springfield College Exercise Science and Sport Studies Department and associate professor of physical education, into its Hall of Fame. The award is the association's highest honor. In naming Redmond, NATA cited him as a distinguished leader and professional mentor for the entire association through many years of service as an athletic trainer.Redmond is internationally renown in his field and, in addition to professorial commitments at Springfield College, has lectured and presented internationally, as well as written copiously on athletic training and injury prevention for books and professional journals. He has served as a text reviewer for the Journal of Athletic Training and the Journal of the American Physical Therapy Association, as well as numerous other independent publishers.
Numbered among his honors are the NATA Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer award, the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association (EATA) Athletic Trainer of the Year award, the Springfield College Gertrude Lamb Distinguished Physical Therapy Award, and induction into the Phi Kappa Phi Academic Honor Society.
In addition to affiliations with myriad professional organizations, Redmond has served on the Sports Medicine Commission of the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance; the NATA Board of Directors; the EATA Advisory Committee; as well as organized many athletic training professional consortia and conferences.
He has been responsible for promoting athletic training and athletic health care in Hong Kong, Peoples Republic of China, Taiwan, Aruba, and Ireland.
The award ceremony is scheduled for June 18, 2004 during NATA's 2004 annual meeting and clinical symposium in Baltimore, Md.
