SC Celebrates Girls And Women In Sports Day
Springfield College hosted a series of events on Saturday, February 7 in conjunction with National Girls and Women In Sports Day. Girls in grades 3-8 were invited to participate in a variety of clinics and events scheduled on the campus.Morning clinics included field hockey, lacrosse, and wall climbing. Participants then were able to eat lunch with the Springfield College mascot, Spirit. Afternoon events included the opportunity to see Women’s Basketball vs. Coast Guard.
Special guest J.J. Jumper, the official basketball mascot of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), made an appearance at both the women’s game and at a later men's game against Babson, in conjunction with the NCAA's "Take A Kid To A Game" promotion. Any parent accompanying a child received free admission to the afternoon games.
