Art Therapy Minor

The Art Therapy minor is designed to introduce the student to art therapy and art as healing. We offer a theoretical framework, and the understanding and application of skills for using art as a therapeutic modality. The Art Therapy minor consists of 18 credits in studio arts and art therapy theory and techniques. Students will be introduced to work with diverse populations in a variety of settings.

Required Studio Arts Courses - 9sh

• ARTS 111 Studio in Design - 3sh
  In addition, one of the following:
• ARTS 116 Studio in Painting - 3sh
• ARTS 108 Studio in Drawing - 3sh
  In addition, one of the following:
• ARTS 223 Studio in Ceramics - 3sh
• ARTS 108 Studio in Sculpture - 3sh

Required Art Therapy Courses - 9sh

• ATPY 101 Intro to Art Therapy - 3sh
• ATPY 105 Methods and Materials in Art Therapy - 3sh
  In addition, one of the following:
• ATPY 203 Art Therapy with Special Needs Populations - 3sh
• ATPY 407 Psychology of Art and the Artist - 3sh
• ATPY 484 Seminar in Art Therapy - 3sh
