Language Requirement
Springfield College recognizes the TOEFL as proof of English proficiency.
Non-U.S. students who live in an English-speaking country or who can document that the language of instruction for their secondary or undergraduate degree was English may be exempt from the TOEFL requirement.
The TOEFL CBT requirement is 193 undergraduate and 213 graduate. Students who do not meet the TOEFL requirement may be eligible for a conditional acceptance. Students with a conditional acceptance are required to take ESOL classes, and may gain full student status upon successful completion of the ESOL classes, a TOEFL score of 193/213 or upon recommendation from the ESOL faculty.
Important: If you are an undergraduate student who speaks, reads and writes a language other than English you may wish to be exempted from the General Education Requirement for second language. You may request this exemption from the Chair of the Humanities Department.
