Students enrolled in graduate studies preparing to enter the teaching field as a physical educator meet the requirements for Massachusetts Teacher Licensure through a variety of comprehensive courses. This knowledge when combined with program prerequisites prepares the candidates in the graduate/post-baccalaureate program to successfully teach physical education in grades PreK-12.

Graduates have the option to secure licensure at PreK-8 and/or 5-12. The program is designed to prepare graduates to teach at any grade level. All students take the same theory and pedagogical courses. Within these classes, however, they have opportunities to focus their projects, papers, and presentations on their intended level of practice.

Students must successfully complete all movement and sports studies prerequisites, as well as meet all requirements set by the Physical Education Teacher Preparation Program. Requirements include a methods course, sixty hours of pre-practicum experience at either the elementary or secondary level, plus a fifteen-week practicum. Each experience combines theoretical content and practical experiences.
