Physical Education and Health Education

Basketball was invented at Springfield College, but that was just the beginning of our international leadership and reputation in physical and health education. We were one of the first institutions to teach exercise physiology to prepare students to be physical educators and coaches. In the 1920s, the movement in sports medicine was launched at Springfield College. More recently, the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) Coach of the Year has frequently been a Springfield College graduate.
