Missy-Marie Montgomery's Bio
Missy-Marie Montgomery has been teaching at Springfield College since 1999. Her teaching responsibilities include the first-year writing course sequence, Nature and Environmental Writers, Creative Writing, Grammar and Usage, and Writing Studio. She is also the faculty advisor for the school’s literary magazine, The Alden Street Review, and the faculty liaison for the Academic Success Center.She received her undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University, her master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, and her P.h.D in rhetoric and composition from the University of Massachusetts.
Dr. Montgomery has published poetry, fiction, and essays in over 25 literary magazines, such as Bellevue Literary Review, Poetry International, Lyric Poetry Review, Cimarron Review, Crab Orchard Review, Southern Humanities Review, and Poet Lore, among others. Her manuscript, Passion Without Object, was a finalist for the Kore first book award, and the Crab Orchard Review first book award. She published a chapbook, The Blue Gate, in 2009, and another chapbook, Knowledge of the Body, is forthcoming in 2010 by Finishing Line Press. She has also presented academic papers at conferences such as the Conference on College Composition and Communication and the New England Faculty Development Consortium.
