Requires prior award of a Massachusetts teaching certificate/license and three years of teaching experience. Offers coursework specially designed to accommodate teachers whose schedules make it difficult to pursue traditional degree programs while meeting their professional responsibilities. Focuses on theories of curriculum design and evaluation; theories and techniques for supervising and evaluating personnel; organizational characteristics of schools and strategies for institutional change; sociology and philosophy of education; as well as school law; budgeting; plant management; human relations; and community education. Features an emphasis on the social curriculum, and a fieldwork requirement of 300 hours of documented work in a setting appropriate to the license.
