General Chair of New Student Orientation
NSO 2008
This year I have the privilege of being the General Chair of New Student Orientation. New Student Orientation, also known as NSO, is a four-day program that allows you to become familiar with the campus and your peers. NSO begins the process of engaging you with academic, residential, and social aspects of Springfield College. The NSO Executive Board and I have been working hard to develop a program that will get you off to a great start here at Springfield College.
There are many aspects to our College that that help to make it a great experience for you: course work, residence halls, peers, upperclass students, co-curricular activities, faculty, traditions, the surrounding community, and more. NSO is designed to engage you in our school, but we need your enthusiasm, cooperation, and involvement in order to be successful.
During the four days of NSO, you will be in a group of approximately 24 students, with both a male and a female leader. Your NSO leader will contact you over the summer by telephone, letter, e-mail, or through Facebook.
Springfield College is strong on tradition, one of the oldest traditions being New Student Orientation. This program is very unique, as it will allow you to take part in many activities and give you the opportunity to meet fellow classmates, faculty, and staff. Our NSO leaders work hard year-round to develop, implement, and provide the best possible orientation program. They are very enthusiastic about the program and meeting you and helping you adjust to your new environment.
Please take some time to review the NSO Web pages in order to familiarize yourself with the dates and times of arrival. We also ask that you familiarize yourself with both the traditions and songs prior to your arrival at Springfield College.
I look forward to meeting you during New Student Orientation. Again, welcome to the Springfield College family!
Sincerely,
