COME BACK!!!
Greetings from snowy Maryland with our reminder to you of our 45th Class Reunion June 10-13, 2010! Along with yearly Homecoming opportunities to visit the “old stomping grounds,” these days in June are the “special times, exciting times, really, for us as a part of the larger Springfield College Family to COME BACK to campus to not only witness for ourselves the many changes to the physical environment on and about the campus, but to re-live the memories of our “glory days.”
We understand , for many of our classmates, the travel distance from home back to the college is great; but, we want to emphasize…if you cannot COME BACK for ALL of the fun stuff planned, COME BACK for the parts that most interest and have special meaning to you!!!
GIVING BACK
Our class gift committee, headed by Rit Mayer, has been hard at work asking for and receiving, (thank you) your gifts and pledges for this year’s gift campaign. Because 2010 is our reunion year, Rit and your reunion committee are hoping to achieve a 65% class participation (all forms of coin and/or paper will be greatly appreciated) and an added anticipation of surpassing our largest gift to date --- $45,000. As of today, $29,400 has been committed from 80 classmates. If you are one of the 80 - thank you again! If you haven't had a chance to give yet, please consider it today.
MARCH CHALLENGE
In honor of the 125th anniversary of Springfield College, a group of college trustees have proposed a CHALLENGE to all Springfield College alumni…and here it is: if you make your 2010 gift (or pay all or part of your existing pledge) in the month of MARCH (however large, medium or small) this group of trustees will “up their giving” by 25%. Hey, that’s pretty good! So, if you haven’t made your 2010 gift yet, act on it if you can. We can “up the ante” and up our percentage of class participation while doing so! You can give online - www.spfldcol.edu/home.nsf/gift - or by sending a check to the Office of Development or you can call the Office of Development at 800-622-6072.
Oh, and don’t forget our class dues ($20.00) are not included in our gift/pledges. Dues can be mailed separately and made out to Springfield College/Class of 1965 Reunion Committee, c/o Alumni Office, Springfield College, 263 Alden Street, Springfield Massachusetts 01109. SPECIAL HAPPENINGS or, what to expect when planning your COMEBACK
- A block of rooms have been set aside for the Class of 1965 at the HILTON GARDEN INN (next to the Basketball Hall of Fame. Book your room now or before May 27th with a major credit card. The PROMO code is 304640
- We are hoping for a golf/polo shirt ( significantly embroidered ) to offer as our “special 2010 remembrance item”…keep those cards, letters, and class dues coming in J!!
- Our “hang-out area” when not attending “fun events” will be the “conversation pit in the oval grassy park area…look for chairs and tables with umbrellas and CLASS OF 1965 signs.
- Our “pre-dinner” get –together (casual reception) with cash bar is planning to be held (weather permitting, of course) at the conversation pit, also. Dinner (VERY CASUAL – the rule is ONE OUTFIT A DAY…less packing, less stress.)
- Bring your cameras….record those moments!!
- Dinner will be a yummy buffet with scrod, beef tips, Chicken Francois, veggies, dessert, beverages and a cash bar.
- We are inviting Coach Doug Parker and Dean Helen Werner Hamilton as our special guests for dinner and hope they will be able to attend
- President Richard B. Flynn is expected to stop by during dinner and say few words
- A candlelight remembrance will be offered for our classmates who have passed
- Commit to attend the “50 in 5” CELEBRATION…our next reunion in 2015!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!Our 45th Class Reunion is upon us… June 10-13, 2010… can you believe it?? Your reunion committee does, and we want to say right now… COME BACK THIS YEAR! Make it a mini-vacation, call it a nostalgia trip, call it anything you want, but JUST DO IT! Indulge yourselves in a weekend of fun with old classmates and friends on the campus that is so special to us forty-five “short” years ago. If you can not come for all of it, come for part of it.
In the next few months, your Reunion Committee will be calling you and sending you letters, with the hope that you will first, COME BACK and second, call other classmates to COME BACK and third, assist us with our annual class gift. Your support of the college, especially during a reunion year, is very important.
Our college continues to make a real difference in the world by providing educated men and women who CARE about the work they do. We, as alumni, continue in the tradition of making a difference by giving back... whatever amount we can… whenever we can. Our Class Gift Committee, chaired by Rit Mayer has great goal- 65% participation for the class of ’65 with a target to surpass our best gift to date of $45,000.
You will be hearing from Rit and fellow classmates about joining with us for the greatest gift yet to the College. If you have already given this year thank you! All of the events the college is putting together are pretty amazing. There are many events that will be of interest to you. A College Golf Tournament, Educational Programs, Coffee House with retired faculty, Campus Tours (you will not recognize the campus), a Casino Royale Gala, wine tasting, class dinner and many more events.
Our own Class of ’65 Dinner on Saturday evening will be very casual. Come back and relax with your classmates. We have requested a block of rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn next to the Basketball Hall of Fame. To book your room call 413-886-8000 with your major credit card by May 27th. Our class dues will remain at $20.00. Sending this check early will be very helpful for the Reunion Planning. Checks should be made out to Springfield College/Class of 1965 Reunion Committee, c/o Alumni Office, Springfield College, 263 Alden St., Springfield, MA. 01109. Remember dues are above and beyond your Annual Fund gift and not tax deductible.
