DIRECTOR OF COLLEGE COUNSELING Brooks School, North Andover MA. The Director of College Counseling has overall responsibility for guiding the members of each year’s graduating class through the transition to post secondary education. The Director works with students and their families throughout the college process, advising both through regular communication, formal presentations, a weekly college curriculum that begins in the middle of a student’s junior year, careful attention to a student’s academic program and construction of a balanced college list. The Director works with college representatives by visiting campuses regularly, hosting college visitors and speaking directly with college representatives to discuss the school’s applicants. The Director attends national and regional conferences throughout the year. The Director manages the college office’s budget and is responsible for the effective use of multiple technological tools, including Naviance, Workspace K-12 and the school’s college counseling website. Though teaching and coaching at Brooks have typically been some part of the director’s role, no particular expectation in either area is attached to this position. This will depend on the candidate’s interests and expertise. Required: Master’s degree; strong work ethic; excellent organizational skills; flexibility, ease and experience with computers; willingness to coordinate efforts with others; enthusiasm for teaching adolescents and working with parents of adolescents. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in a college admission office, although that is not essential. The start date is flexible. Please direct all inquiries to John H. Haile, Dean of Faculty, Brooks School, 1160 Great Pond Road, North Andover MA 01845; email jhaile@brooksschool.org
