Benefits of Service in AmeriCorps Include:Living Allowance
Part-time members receive a living allowance of $6,050 (before taxes) paid over ten months at $605 per month. Quarter-time members receive a living allowance of $3,024 (before taxes) paid over ten months at $302.40 per month.Education Award
Upon successful completion of 900 hours of service, part-time members will receive a $2,675 Education Award. Upon completion of 450 hours, quarter-time members will receive a $1,337.50 Education Award. This voucher from the Corporation for National and Community Service can be applied toward qualified student loans or tuition and is valid for seven years.Worker’s Compensation and Loan Forbearance/Interest Accrual
AmeriCorps members may request forbearance on qualified student loans, postponing their loan payments during their term of service. The National Service Trust will also repay a portion of any interest accrued on qualified student loans during the term of service.Springfield College Receives $1.6 Million AmeriCorps Grant
