Class of '75
Dear Classmates and Friends of ’75,
Hey, we’re in a new decade! Double digits, too! Now that the holidays are over and all the decorations are packed and stowed, everyone can snuggle down with chowdah, chili, or soup to handle whatever Mother Nature is throwing your way for the rest of winter and daydream about….Reunion!
It’s not that far away, fewer than five months. Some decisions have been made; others are still pending. International will be the place to lay our heads – whenever it is we go to sleep (with downtown hotel options available, too), so that means we’ll have a spot for late night gatherings. Pat and Laura (along with hubby Tom Marks ’74) have checked out the new “BC” (It is officially The Richard B. Flynn Campus Union) and said it’s awesome! Whether we have our dinner and dancing there or in Cheney will depend on how many show. So are you coming? Charlie Redmond’68 will be our guest speaker.
Other classes’ members wishing to join us have been added to the mailing list to get updates, reminders, and the registration material when sent. Have you reached out to someone from ’75 or from another year to ask them to join us? If not, make that call or e-mail and tell them lots of old friends will be waiting to see them on campus, even if it’s for only a part of the weekend. And if you’ve been before, send the Alumni Office a “promotional testimonial” that we could use in the next letter or e-mail blast. You can also keep in touch with class info on the Facebook page Pat created. Just click the groups icon to connect.
We’re still looking for some good donations for the silent auction. Sports memorabilia is always good, as is special jewelry or crafts reflecting SC in some way. Contact Pat with ideas. And SC is looking for us to help with Alumni Relations five goals: recruiting students, providing career connections, improving media relations, engaging alums for volunteering, and increasing alum donations. We know that everyone always mentions Springfield when a friend’s child is looking for a great place to go to college, that most of us still wear SC garb and pins, both old and new, to spread the word about SC, and that many volunteer to SC’s Humanics in Action Day and other SC functions. But did you know that besides your annual class gift (Have you made yours yet?) that you can make a planned gift, so that your estate will make a gift to the school? It’s a very easy way to remember SC. The Alumni Office has plenty of information and forms available. And did you know that you can make your contribution online?
So as everyone looks to hang on through winter, remember a couple of things: 1) block out the June 10-13 weekend for reunion; 2) let the AO know you’re coming (even if tentative or for just a part of the weekend); 3) send in your class dues ($19.75) and your class gift ($5, $10, $100?); 4) contact several someones you’d love to see that weekend, and 5) send that “promotional testimonial” to the AO.
