Class of '80
Dear Classmates of ’80
“No man is an island, entire of itself… any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.”
This quote is from John Donne an English poet in the late 1500 to early 1600’s. If you have not heard the SC campus now has some bells hanging in the new campus union. I was on campus a couple of weeks ago and the new building is very impressive and I really felt a strong sense of Pride no pun intended when I walked through and around the new building. The reason I share this with you is because we want you to come back and visit SC this summer for our 30th class reunion. If you have not been on campus in awhile you are in for a real surprise. We don’t just want you to visit the campus we want to see you. One of the most enjoyable aspects of reunions is catching up with friends, classmates, teammates, dorm mates that you may not have seen in 10, 20 or 30 years. Your reunion committee is working hard to plan a great reunion weekend for the class of 1980. But for a great reunion it’s not really about the events it’s about the people. So we are asking you to save the dates June 10-13th and come back for a visit, even if you just come for a day or just a visit we want you to be there. A lot of time has passed. This is your chance to catch up with some of the classmates that you shared four great years with. I don’t know about you. But I still remember moving in to my dorm in September and seeing this other kid moving in down the hall. He was wearing a lime green leisure suit. I remember thinking I was really under dressed. I hope that kid shows up and we hope you do to. Keep your eye on the mail, e-mail and the SC website for more details as we get closer to this summer. We hope you come back to hear the bells toll they toll for thee.
