Dan is a second-year graduate student in the Occupational Therapy department currently working on his thesis. He has tutored for Writing Support Services for the past year. He received a BS in French and Linguistics and Masters in Translation (certified) from Georgetown University and worked as a translator in New York for many years. His time at Springfield College represents a change of career. He has tutored various subjects over the years and has published articles (nonfiction) and technical patents (translations). You'll recognize him around campus by his handsome sidekick, Nicky, the black-and-tan dachshund.

Stephanie worked in the Writing Center her senior year at Columbus State. Her love for writing and helping students with their writing led her to continue this work at Springfield College. Tara is second year graduate student in the Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Substance Abuse Counseling Program. She attended Springfield College for two years as an undergraduate, and then obtained her Bachelor’s in Rehabilitation at the University of Maine at Farmington in 2002. She is happy to be back on campus. In addition to being a tutor, Tara is a graduate assistant in the rehabilitation department and works part-time in the Academic Affairs office. Tara has a knack for working with people, and this is her second year tutoring writing.

Jessica is a senior at Springfield College majoring in Psychology with a minor in Rehabilitation and Disability Studies. She loves being in Western Massachusetts, but has a special place in her heart for her hometown--Franklin, Massachusetts. Jess plans on attending graduate school here at Springfield College, and eventually would like to work with children with intellectual disabilities or in a counseling setting. Jessica is and has been involved with Best Buddies and the SC Singers since her first year at Springfield College. This is her second year as a writing tutor. Jess enjoys working with the students on campus and is looking forward to another great experience in the ASC this year!

She recently retired after teaching 35 years, with the majority of those years spent teaching writing and public speaking at Westfield High School. She enjoys working with young people and has found Springfield College to be a very welcoming place for its students.

Tracy is a Junior majoring in Health Studies with a minor in Psychology. She is from Upstate New York but loves being away at school in Massachusetts. Tracy plans to attend graduate school to become a dietitian or therapist. Her extracurricular activities include being an RA in International Hall as well as a Senator for the class of 2010. She also participates in the Partner's Program. This is Tracy's first year as a writing tutor, and she is excited to work with everyone.

Kara is currently a sophomore at Springfield College who is aspiring to become a Physical Therapist with a Minor in English. She has interned at the Western Mass Sports Journal, the Basketball Hall of Fame, and will be interning at the Springfield’s #1 television station, ABC40, in the spring. Mara has considerable experience in teaching and community organizing with high school and college students. She has served as a peer mentor for an online writing group. Mara is a writer and a poet, and edited Behaviors, Beliefs, and Emotions: Doctor-Patient relationships in Behavioral Optometry, which was published in 2006. She enjoys working with students.

Kim received an undergraduate degree from Springfield College 20+ years ago. She is now back, working on a graduate degree in Occupational Therapy. In between, she graduated from Western New England College, School of Law, and practiced law in Connecticut. Kim has written and published two legal textbooks, and also has a novel, Truths Unveiled, coming out this spring.
