Class of '95
March 11, 2010
Dear Classmate,
There has never been a more exciting time to be a part of Springfield College! Ripe with newness everywhere you look, the campus has transformed into something unique and special. In fact, many consider this next entering class to be the envy of all preceding classes. Gone are the construction vehicles, gone are the loud excavators, gone is the dust. Present, however, are several new facilities that have moved Springfield forward on academic, athletic, and co-curricular fronts.
Since 2003, the College has seen the opening of a newly-renovated comprehensive science center, a newly-constructed Wellness Center, Fieldhouse, and Athletic Training/Exercise Science facility, and most recently, the Richard B. Flynn Campus Union. Yes, it’s true, the BC is no longer! However, what exists in that spot on campus is really, really great!
I feel lucky to have a front-row seat (from Admissions) to see all of these changes. Fortunately for everyone, these changes are helping our efforts to enroll quality students! Enrollment this past year was at a record high. Our prospective families clearly feel that the mission of the College, enhanced facilities, and continued academic excellence make Springfield a solid option for higher learning, much like you may have felt when you were making your enrollment decision back in the early 1990s.
With our 15-year reunion just around the corner, there is no better time to visit campus to see these changes, see old (and new) friends, and see again why Springfield is so special. The reunion committee has been working hard to put together a fun-filled weekend, and hope that you will visit campus the weekend of June 4 – 6.
All of these changes are exciting, and many were made possible by donations from our alumni base. If you have not made a pledge to the Annual Fund, I’d invite you to consider supporting the College with a gift that fits into your budget. Participation matters more than dollar amounts, so starting with a $15 gift is reasonable to consider! If you’re able to do more, please feel free!
So, how do you find out more? Log onto www.spfldcol.edu/alumni, check out the official “Springfield College Class of 1995” Facebook page, or call Alumni Relations at (413) 748-3161.
I invite you to visit our campus when it is convenient to spend an hour walking around to see our changes. I think you, like me, will enjoy what you see.
Yours in Springfield,
Rich Veres ‘95
