Class of '98
Greetings Class of 1998!
Can you believe that we have been out of college for 10 years! Doesn’t it feel like yesterday that we moved into Gulick Hall, Alumni or International? Do you remember going from practice right to Judd Gym and then straight into Cheney Hall? Or how about Sti-Yu-Ka, Gulick Games, and 11 o’clock PM intramural games?
Well it’s time to get ready to come to the place ♪ “Where Everybody Knows Your Name”. Starting June 12th 2008, we will be joining other classes and celebrating our reunion year! The Class of 1998’s 10-year reunion will kick off on a Thursday night (for the early arrivals) and end with a favorite, Sunday Brunch at Cheney, compliments of the Alumni Association! We are hoping that many of our classmates will be able to make a weekend trip back to Springfield or maybe just meet us for a day or night activity.
For those of you who have not been able to return to campus since we last left it, you will be amazed. There is a new resident hall in front of the Townhouses, a new synthetic surface soccer facility, the walkway connecting the natatorium and the athletic complex has been taken down to make room for new Field House that is presently under construction…and the best one of all; International is now just one color!
Consider this letter as a save-the-date! Included is a pre-response form so that we can get an idea as to how many of our classmates are interested in coming back to SC. This is not a registration form! There will be more information along the way but we already have a bunch of activities planned: golf tournament, Casino night, beer and wine tasting, class dinner, etc. We will also be blocking rooms off at the Marriott in downtown. Recently Springfield College received a challenge grant from the Kresge Foundation to help successfully complete the $40 million comprehensive fundraising campaign, Leadership for the 21st Century. The challenge is this: if we can raise $5 million million before July 1, 2008, to get to $39 million, Kresge will give the final $1 million. (To date, $34 million has been raised). Everyone is being asked to consider a 5-year pledge to help meet this challenge. The entire 5-year pledge total will count toward your class reunion giving total, toward the campaign, and for The Kresge Challenge. Your participation will help us meet the challenge! Please reflect back to your years as a student at Springfield College as you consider your gift. Think of the students now, and those that are still to come (maybe even some of our own children!).
We look forward to getting in touch with you over the next few months and again…save the date!!! The Class of ’98’s 10 Year Reunion, June 12th-15th.
