ATTENTION – CLASS OF 1953!
We know that it is hard to believe...but the date for our 55th Class Reunion is but a few months away, on June 12-15, 2008. So....step number one upon receipt of this letter is to place these dates on your appointments calendar!
Our Planning Committee, whose names are listed below, is already at work with the Alumni Office to present a great reunion weekend of activities you won’t want to miss. They will include:
- An opportunity to tour the campus and view all of the changes that have taken place over the past five + decades.
- Springfield College Today & Tomorrow presented by President Flynn is a program not to be missed.
- A “Celebration of Loyalty to SC” including our class picture and the annual Alumni Parade.
- The Strawberry Festival and Casino Night
- The Golf Tournament
- A Reunion Banquet featuring a visit from our College President, Dr. Flynn
The first step to make our 55th Reunion a meaningful one is to start communicating with one another now. We would appreciate it if you would fill out the enclosed Pre-Reunion Response Form, ASAP. This is not a reunion registration. It is information to help in planning the approximate attendance at Reunion. Make sure to include an e-mail address if possible as that will aid us significantly as we try to, “get the word out”. Also, watch for the start of our own web page - more information about that will follow.
We have reserved a block of rooms for our class at the Crown Plaza Enfield, CT, 10 min. from school, at $89.00/night. Their number is 860-741-2211. When making a reservation, be sure to mention SC Class of 1953. The cut-off date for reservations to receive this rate is May 9, 2008.
You may remember that when we sent out information about our 50th Reunion in 2003, we had to ask you for money to replenish our meager treasury. We have good news now- the balance in our account with the Alumni Office is $509.92.
This year we hope that you will be sure to send a gift in support of Leadership for the 21st Century, the comprehensive fundraising campaign. It is comprehensive, meaning that anything you give to - annual fund, capital projects, etc. - all counts toward the campaign total and toward The Kresge Challenge. Currently, $35.5 million has been raised in the campaign, and if we get to $39 million by June 30, 2008, the Kresge Foundation will award the college the final $1 million to finish the campaign. Be a part of this success by giving what you are able to, and remember that if you make a pledge over the next 5 years, that entire five year commitment counts toward the Challenge!
So...we hope that this year you will also send money, but for the Campaign for Springfield so that we can secure that matching grant of $1 million from the Kresge Foundation.
