Springfield College Campus Safety
and Security Measures
There is no higher priority at Springfield College than the security of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors to our campus. In addition to established emergency procedures, there are many safety and security measures in place, including:
- Our Department of Public Safety patrols our grounds in marked police cruisers, on foot, and on bicycles. They are approachable at any time.
- Security escorts are available anywhere on the campus 24 hours each day by calling Public Safety at 748-5555.
- The College shuttle is available for transportation from classes, academic programs, and activities to campus residences and parking lots. It operates seven days each week during the academic year. The hours are: Sunday – Wednesday, 7 p.m. – midnight; and Thursday – Saturday, 7 p.m. – 2 a.m.
- Most student residence halls and a number of academic buildings make use of an electronic ID access system.
- Guards monitor residence hall entrances from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and the three major parking lots 24 hours each day.
- Security cameras monitor entrances to most campus buildings, as well as the new soccer field and track.
- Emergency telephones are installed throughout the campus. They are marked by blue lights on the residence halls, track, Babson Library, Portsmouth St. Warehouse, and the Brennan Center.
- The College conducts Crime Prevention and Awareness programs in the residence halls.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Report any suspicious activity or individual to Public Safety.
- Use the safety services.
- Place your valuables in a secure location.
- Keep your residence hall room doors locked.
- Lock your motor vehicle.
