Springfield College Volleyball Reunion
January 2008The Men’s Volleyball Reunion Committee (Walter Umberfield ’52, Joel Dearing ’79, Paul Mickiewicz ’82, Mike Burney ’87, Bobby Mosca ’97, Matt Smith, ’05, and ourselves) continues to work with Tamie Kidess Lucey ’81 G’82 and Nate Luscombe ’04 of the Alumni Association on what we hope will be a very enjoyable program. Currently, those plans include the following activities:
Friday, April 4
6:00 PM Dutch-treat Dinner at Cheney Hall
(Reserved seating for volleyball alums)7:00 PM SC Men’s Volleyball Match vs. NYU
9:00 PM Reception for Alums and Current Players (Following match; time is approximate)
Saturday, April 5
11:00 AM Brunch (Program possibilities include a tribute to Coach Hay, recognition of the 1971, 1974 and 1976 teams that went to the Final Four)
1:00 PM Guided Tours of Campus (and boy, is there a lot to see!)
2:00 PM Alumni Volleyball Match (Possible alternate activities: Hair-loss restoration seminar or medication swap meet—just kidding)
5:00 PM Informal Dinner at the Pueblo
The program is still under development so if you have any other good programming ideas for the reunion, please contact Nate or any member of the Committee. Please keep in mind that family and friends of alums are invited as well. Please note that this schedule isn’t set in stone.
The Hilton Garden Inn in Springfield is discounting room rates for the event, so make sure you mention that you are attending the Springfield College Volleyball Reunion when you make your reservations. Call 413-886-8000 with your major credit card when you reserve your room. And once you decide to attend, please let Nate know as well (nluscombe@spfldcol.edu).
We attended the last SC volleyball reunion and had a great time. We are both planning to attend again next April and hope to see many of you there as well. Under any circumstances, we wish you the best for the upcoming holiday season!
