Dear friends of Springfield College Wrestling,
Many of us have been counting the years, (some on fingers), just waiting for the five years since the last reunion to pass. Well it is here at last!!!! Today is the day you should start planning your return to Springfield College. Every reunion has offered a great time with some old and new friends who will reaffirm that your life turned out great.
This reunion will be special, just like all the previous ones, but with the addition of two extra inspiring reasons to want to be a part of this event!. One is that we are celebrating 95 years of SC wrestling and the second is that we need everyone’s input on planning the celebration of 100 years of wrestling that will take place in… you do the math (yes, some of you can use your fingers again!) …2015. Later this spring you will be contacted with a full description of the schedule for the July 9th & 10th event.
There is lots of excitement, thirty rooms have already booked rooms at the Hilton Garden in and they are looking forward to seeing you. This might be an opportunity for a new wrestle off, or to pay back the money you borrowed to buy that fribble at friendly’s after making weight! To make it easier for you to convince yourself or anyone who might not agree that you should attend, see the great reasons below;
- If you don’t attend, then sharing your memories of some of the funniest times in your life at Springfield, will have to wait five years; we don’t want you to call them in.
- Fellow SC Wrestlers may simply make up memories about you and you will not be here defend them
- If you are not part of the 100th anniversary planning, the party may turn into another cookout at coaches’ house.
- You will get to shake hands with Doug Parker and show him that you have followed his advice to keep smiling
- The best photos from your wrestling mementos can be hand delivered for guaranteed processing for the 2015 reunion, and you have a good reason for bringing old photos of yourself with you!
- You will get to meet the great Springfield wrestlers of the past and the hope for the future.
- Like the #1 reason for real estate sales, location, location, location with the added friendship, friendship, friendship!

Dear Friends of Sprinfield College Wrestling,
As I mentioned in my last alumni letter, we have a new computer program, Front Rush, that allows our coaches to more easily e-mail our alumni. We have about 800 Springfield College wrestling alumni in our system, and have e-mails for about half of them. You can update your information in our system by going to the Front Rush Web site and clicking the alumni submission form.
The team has been wrestling pretty well so far and are currently ranked 23 in the nation in Division III Wrestling. We have a fairly young team and expect to keep moving up in these rankings as we continue to improve. We have been keeping busy, as our entire team had the opportunity to compete in four tournaments this fall semester. We had 35 entries in both the Ithaca and Doug Parker Tournaments. We performed pretty well, finishing fourth in both tournaments. We stepped it up at our next tournament at Messiah College in Penn. Even without two of our captains, we placed 10 wrestlers at eight weight classes and finished in second place, only 1.5 points out of first. We only had one dual meet first semester and we defeated WPI 29-15.
We competed at the Wilkes Open in late December getting in some good top level competition. On January 15, we get our second half of the season started at the 20-team Bud Whitehill duals at Lycoming College in Penn. Remember that our next Springfield College Wrestling Reunion is scheduled for this summer, July 9-10, 2010. I will be getting the committee together soon and you will be hearing from us.
