MTEL Assistance Program

MTEL Photo The Academic Success Center (ASC) provides support for students preparing to take the Communication and Literacy Skills portion of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure® (MTEL). There are several types of support available depending on each student's needs.

During the 2009-2010 academic year, the MTEL Assistance Program is piloting a program using ReadingPlus in an effort to help students become a more skilled readers. Students wishing to learn more about ReadingPlus should contact the MTEL coordinator.

The ASC's MTEL coordinator offers students valuable information, study skills, resources, and advice about the MTEL tests. The MTEL coordinator also provides outreach to students to update them on new opportunities. Students can contact the MTEL coordinator directly:

Students seeking tutorial support to practice and improve their skills for either the writing or reading subtests should directly contact the appropriate MTEL specialist by phone to make an appointment.

MTEL Photo Working in conjunction with the Office of Educator Preparation and Licensure, the MTEL Assistance Program is a part of the College’s larger MTEL Support System. Through the MTEL Support System, there are a number of faculty volunteers who are able to offer support for MTEL, an MTEL test preparation course (SPCO 201 - Building Communication and Literacy Skills), that is scheduled each semester, and a variety of other resources and services available.
