Physician Assistant Graduates Score 100% Pass Rate

Graduates from the physician assistant master’s program had a 100 percent first-time pass rate on the Physician Assistant National Certification Examination. This is the fourth class in the last four years of the program that has achieved this accomplishment. The exam is administered by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants and qualifies students for state licensure.


Julia Chevan Co-authored the Textbook "Physical Therapy Management of Low Back Pain: A Case Based Approach"

Julia Chevan, professor and chair of the Department of Physical Therapy, co-authored the textbook "Physical Therapy Management of Low Back Pain: A Case Based Approach," published by Jones and Bartlett in January 2012. The book provides a detailed review of the theory and practice of the most common approaches to treating low back pain while focusing on a single patient case.


Jon N. Christenson G’10 Was Recently Published in The Rehabilitation Professional

Jon N. Christenson G’10 was recently published in The Rehabilitation Professional, the journal of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP). Christenson’s article, “The Ethical Implications for Insurance Rehabilitation Practitioners,” took first place in the Student Paper Competition at the IARP Case Management & Disability Management Conference in Scottsdale, Ariz. Christenson currently works at MassMutual Financial Group as a Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant.


Gary Wiemokly Recently Received His Doctoral Degree

Gary Wiemokly, Ed.D., Paramedic Program Director and Clinical Coordinator for the Emergency Medical Services Management Department, has recently received his doctorate from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.


J. Patrick Decoteau Has Been Appointed President-elect of the National Rehabilitation Counseling Association (NRCA)

Springfield College Professor of Rehabilitation and Disability Studies J. Patrick Decoteau has been appointed president-elect of the National Rehabilitation Counseling Association (NRCA). Decoteau began his three year term on Jan. 1, 2012 and will assume the president’s leadership position in 2013. The NRCA is an organization that represents the unique concerns of practicing rehabilitation counselors in private nonprofit agencies, hospital medical settings, educational programs, private-for-profit businesses, state/federal agencies, and private practice unions.
