How to Apply for Financial Aid for Current SHS Students

This application process includes applying for Federal Stafford Student Loans, Federal Pell Grant, state grants and Springfield College grant.

All applicants must complete the following 3-step process:

1. File your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)*. You are encouraged to file on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov If you have a PIN, you may use it to electronically sign your FAFSA. If you do not have a PIN, please print and sign your signature page and mail it to the federal processor.

You may also get a paper FAFSA form from your campus. Fill it out completely, sign it, and mail it in the attached envelope to the federal processor. Keep copies of everything you mail.

Make sure that Springfield College, Springfield, MA is on the list of schools you want to receive your FAFSA information. Our school code is 002211.

2. Complete a Springfield College Financial Aid Application* and submit it to the Springfield College Financial Aid office. If you need a copy of this form, contact your campus or click on the appropriate application link below.

3. Submit a signed photocopy of the required federal tax return* to the Springfield College Financial Aid office. Enclose copies of your W-2s as well.

* 2008/09- For enrollment in September 2008, January 2009, May 2009, complete a 2008-2009 FAFSA using your 2007 federal tax return. Send a copy of this tax return with your completed 2008/09 Springfield College Financial Aid Application to the college.

* 2007/08- For enrollment in September 2007, January 2008, May 2008, complete a 2007-2008 FAFSA using your 2006 federal tax return. Send a copy of this tax return with your completed 2007/08 Springfield College Financial Aid Application to the college.

Deadlines:
Priority dates for Springfield College Grant are as follows:
Returning students: May 1. Decisions mailed beginning June 15.

New students-
  • July 15 for September admission. Decisions mailed beginning August 1.
  • November 15 for January admission. Decisions mailed beginning December 1.
  • March 15 for May admission. Decisions mailed beginning April 1.

    State grants also have deadlines to receive the FAFSA:
    California—March 2
    Delaware—April 15
    Florida – May 15
    Maine—May 1
    Massachusetts—May 1
    New Hampshire—May 1
    Pennsylvania—May 1
    Rhode Island—March 1
