Martin Dobrow

Martin Dobrow has been at Springfield College since 1999. He teaches Introduction to Journalism, Advanced Journalism, Sports Writing, Journalistic Ethics, and The Athlete in Literature. In addition, he supervises the internships for all Communications/Sports Journalism majors, and serves as the faculty advisor to the student newspaper.

Dobrow came to Springfield after a decade of writing for newspapers and magazines. He has earned national writing awards from organizations such as the Associated Press Sports Editors (including the nation's top column award for newspapers with a circulation under 50,000), the Sunday Magazine Editors Association, the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors, the Education Writers Association, and the United States Basketball Writers Association. Three times he has been cited for notable stories in Houghton Mifflin's series The Best American Sports Writing. He is the author of Going Bigtime: The Spectacular Rise of UMass Basketball, which received a highly favorable review in Sports Illustrated. He has been published in a wide variety of magazines and newspapers, including Sport, Yankee, The International Herald Tribune, and The Boston Globe. Student Interviews
