History
The study of history at Springfield College is designed to provide students with a basic body of historical and related knowledge which will enable them to better understand the world they inhabit, the problems of their society, and their own lives.Another major goal of the history program is to assist students in developing analytical, problem-solving, research, and writing skills. Careers in government service, law, business, and teaching readily follow the training of those who major in this discipline.

History Majors in the News!
Hartford, Conn. - February 27, 2011 - Led by individual champion Ron Fusco, the Springfield College wrestling team captured the 33rd Annual New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Championship at Trinity College. It marked the first time since 2006 that Springfield won the NEWA title.
By virtue of his win at the 285 pound weight classification, Fusco earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, which will be held Friday-Saturday, March 11-12 at the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse. Wrestling in the last match of the night, Fusco pulled out Springfield's lone championship as he defeated Tom Foote of Williams, 3-1 in overtime to capture the title. Read More.
