Jerome Griffin, Ed.D.

Ed.D. 1995 in Higher Education with a concentration in Human Resource Development and Organizational Leadership, Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Jerome is currently an Associate Professor of Human Services. Jerome received his B.S. Degree in Political Science from Portland State University, Portland Oregon 1976 where he also minored in Urban Studies. He also received his Masters Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California 1989.

Jerome began working with Springfield College in 2005. Jerome also worked with Mobil Oil Corporation and Xerox Corporation in Palo Alto, California for over 10 years where he held several strategic positions. Jerome also served as an IFESH Teaching Fellow at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria W. Africa 1992-93 while completing his doctoral studies. Jerome also completed a post doctoral fellowship in International Affairs in 1995 at the University of Ghana at legon in Ghana W. Africa.

Jerome has taught at Evergreen Valley College in San Jose, California and the Peralta Colleges in Oakland, California. He has also served as Project Director for Project Africa a humanitarian non governmental organization in the countries of Swaziland, South Africa, Mozambique, Liberia W. Africa, Nigeria and Ghana W. Africa since 1997. Jerome is a Vietnam era veteran where he also served as a member of the United States Marine Corps. His primary areas of interest are in world view analysis/economic and social justice, organizational leadership, community development and cultural diversity.


SHS employs full-time faculty who are responsible for teaching, service, and scholarship. The SHS practice-oriented curriculum also includes contributions from part-time faculty who are directly involved in agency and community work. The result is that SHS has a faculty with the flexibility, resources and expertise required to address academics as well as new developments in human services practice and delivery.
