TV / Video Editing Studio
The video-editing lab at Springfield College has been designed so students can gain solid hands-on experience. It has six state-of-the-art non-linear editing stations and is digital from the beginning video camera shot to the final DVD output. Naturally, all students will end up with a DVD disk of their own personal projects.During regular course work, students work on projects in small teams—gaining the give and take experiences that are needed in the real work wold. Class projects are designed to create a comprehensive “portfolio” of work, a key item for prospective employers.
A significant number of students move on from the required Television Journalism course to do more complicated projects in the Advanced Video Editing course.
And for those students who see TV/video as their calling, they are encouraged to structure advanced independent study courses. The Communication/Sports Journalism program has worked hard to give students room to creatively structure elective courses that will further their specific interests and goals.
