Camp Massasoit Staff Application 2008
Dear Applicant:Thank you for your interest in a summer camp position at Camp Massasoit. Our staff is a select team of individuals carefully chosen for their enthusiasm, leadership skills, and dedication to providing the highest quality camp experience to our campers and the overall program.
Camp Massasoit is a multi-recreational and educational camp for boys and girls ages 5 to 15 years, located on the East Campus of Springfield College. Our camp programs include a challenge course, swimming, boating, archery, nature & outdoor skills, games, arts & crafts, and themed “All Camp” days.
Additionally, for campers ages 11-13 years, we offer a transitional program, known as Walk-A-Bout. Walk-A-Bout teaches fundamental wilderness competencies in conjunction with team-building and leadership skills with one overnight experience. This program prepares participants for Adventure Camp, available to campers ages 13-15 years. The first week will be spent preparing for a four-night overnight wilderness trip that takes place Monday through Friday of the second week.
Through our programming, we strive to provide a character-developing environment that embodies Springfield College’s Humanics Philosophy: The mission of equally educating the spirit, mind, and body. We operate for nine weeks every summer, including a week of staff training and four two-week sessions. In 2008, our staff-training week will be June 14h through June 20th, covering approximately 40 hours of training. Our day camp is operational Monday through Friday, June 23rd through August 16th, 2008.
Included on this webpage are all of the documents necessary to compile a complete application packet. This includes a Staff Application (new or returning), a Staff Information Guide, Reference Forms, and Activity Plans. All of this information will better educate you about our summer programs, including our philosophy, mission, and goals. The application process will operate as follows:
Once your application, including three written reference forms, an essay, and two activity plans, has been received by our office, an interview may be offered. If not, a letter will be sent thanking you for taking the time to apply.
Employment decisions will be made after the interview process is completed and all references have been contacted.
If the decision is made to offer you a position, we will contact you. We will then send an employment agreement to the address listed on your application. We encourage you to apply early since there are a limited number of positions on our team. If employment is not offered, we will contact you by mail.
Once again, thank you for your interest in Springfield College’s Camp Massasoit. Please return all application materials immediately. If you have any questions about our camp, feel free to contact us at 413.750.5011. We look forward to receiving your application!
Sincerely,
