Biology

Biology and Chemistry The biology major offers diverse exposure to the key areas of study in the life sciences. Undergraduate study may lead to acceptance to graduate schools, including schools of medicine and dentistry, careers in laboratory sciences in hospitals, government, or industry, and teacher licensure. Students who want to enter medical or dental school are advised by an interdepartmental preprofessional committee.

Healing Lives and Passing the Torch
Dr. Vaughan Allen, with biology major Jevin Carruth ’11 and sports biology major Ashley Kelley ’11. Carruth and Kelley were joined by senior sports biology majors Sara Graber and Jaclyn Hill in Nashville, in July, where the four participated in internships at the Howell Allen Clinic. Jennifer Michaud '98 Accepts Fellowship at Boston Medical Center
Jennifer Michaud '98 was offered a fellowship at Boston Medical Center starting in July 2009. This honor follows her two year appointment as chief resident at the Lahey Clinic in Boston. She hopes to become a cardiologist.
Jevin Carruth '11 Awarded Full Scholarship
Jevin Carruth '11 was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. As a premedical scholar, Carruth interned with renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Vaughn Allen.
