SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE RECEIVES SUPER 60 AWARD Springfield College received the 2006 Super 60 Award for Revenue from the Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfield, Inc. (ACCGS) at an Oct. 27 awards luncheon attended by almost 700 chamber members. College President Richard B. Flynn accepted a plaque from Jeannie Pelchat, executive vice president of PeoplesBank, and Peter Straley, president and chief executive officer of Health New England. Read more.

SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE AND MCDI SERVE COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DINNER The Massachusetts Career Development Institute (MCDI) and Springfield College served holiday dinner to neighbors free of charge on November 16 in MCDI's dining room on Wilbraham Ave. The community Thanksgiving dinner was open to all Springfield residents; more than 600 people attended. ETHIOPIAN JEWISH DANCE TROUPE PERFORMS The Beta Dance Troupe of Haifa, Israel, performed traditional Ethiopian Jewish dance, mixing elements of Ethiopian tribal dances and artistic dance of Ethiopian Jewry, on November 12 in the Appleton Auditorium of Fuller Arts Center.  Read more.

COACHING ICON ARCHIE P. ALLEN '37 PASSES AWAY AT THE AGE OF 93 Springfield College coaching icon Archie P. Allen, 93, of Springfield, Mass., died peacefully November 1 at Reeds Landing. Archie Allen is one of the best-known and well-respected coaches in Springfield College history. So revered was Archie that he was selected to the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame's first class in 1972. Read more.

FOOTBALL TO HOST CURRY NOVEMBER 18 IN NCAA DIVISION III FIRST-ROUND PLAYOFF GAME Fresh off its 500th win in school history, the Springfield College football team has been named the #2-seed in the East Regional and will host Curry College of Milton, Mass., in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship tourney Saturday, November 18, at Benedum Field at noon. DERRON WALKER NAMED EMPIRE 8 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Football's Derron Walker was named Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week for the week of November 13 for his great play in the November 11 victory at Norwich University in Northfield, Vt. Read more.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES 16^TH OF 45 TEAMS AT NCAA DIVISION III NEW ENGLAND REGIONALS Springfield College hosted the 2006 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's New England Regional Cross Country Championships November 11 at Veterans Golf Course. Finishing first for the Pride in the men's 8k race was sophomore Mike Griffin (Scarborough, Me.) with a time of 26:29.9. Junior Alyssa Brigham (Penacook, N.H.) was the top finisher for the SC women, completing the 6k course in 24:18.7. Read more.

WRESTLING OPENS ITS DUAL-MEET SEASON WITH VICTORIES OVER WNEC, AIC The 17th-ranked wrestling team defeated Western New England College, 45-0, and American International College, 47-4, November 15 in a tri-meet at Springfield College's Blake Arena. In the third match of the night, WNEC defeated AIC, 15-12. Read more.

SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE HOSTS 2006 NCAA DIVISION III NEW ENGLAND REGIONAL CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS The Williams College men and the Middlebury College women took home team titles November 11 at the 2006 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's New England Regional Cross Country Championships hosted by Springfield College at the Veterans Golf Course in Springfield, Mass. WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO SMITH IN THE ECAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME The top-seeded Smith College women's soccer team defeated No. 2 Springfield College, 4-0, November 12 in rainy Northampton, Massachusetts, to win the 2006 ECAC Division III Women's Soccer Championship match. It was Smith's first ECAC title in women's soccer since 1987, and the third in its history. Read more

The Holiday Arts and Crafts Sale, featuring ceramics, art, jewelry, and cards by SC students will be held November 28–30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the William Bizard Gallery, Visual Arts Center.

The Annual Holiday Concert by the Springfield College Singers and Band will be held December 7, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. in Marsh Memorial Chapel. The event will feature holiday music combined with popular favorites, choral selections, refreshments, and good cheer.

The Springfield College campus will be closed from December 25-January 1.
