The 2008-09 Springfield College women's swimming and diving team returns five national participants from last seasons's squad and will be led by senior All-American and two-time NEWMAC Swimmer of the Year Moira Price. Price finished third in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and 13th in the 50 free. Senior diver Erin White earned honorable mention All-American honors last season by finishing 16th in the three-meter diving. Also competing in the NCAA Division III meet last season are returners Kallie Pottle and Michelle Reggio, who will help bolster the Pride's exceptional quality and depth.

Head Coach John Taffe, who enters his 20th year at Springfield College, will begin this season as a six-time NEWMAC Coach of the Year. Taffe believes that this year's team possesses the appropriate mix of experience, depth, and youth. With the addition of one of his best freshman classes ever, Taffe has high hopes of being able to contend for his ninth-consecutive NEWMAC title and to continue to improve at the national level.

Hoping to splash onto the Springfield swimming and diving scene their first year in the pool at Springfield are Katherine Gallant,Courtney Keefe, Caroline Kosciusko, Brianne Lemoine, Kaitlin Reilley, Meghan Sisson, and Jaclyn Van Waalwijk.

Head diving coach Peter Avdoulos enters his 24th season at SC since graduating from the College in 1985. Avdoulos is a four-time NCAA Division III Women’s Coach of the Year. He is also a five-time NEWMAC Coach of the Year, as Avdoulos has coached three separate National Champions (Nora Kelly, Lindsay Moore, Alison Mellage).
