The 2007-08 Springfield College women's swimming and diving team returns six national participants from last seasons's squad and will be led by junior All-American and NEWMAC Swimmer of the Year Moira Price. Price was the the national runner-up in the 200 breaststroke, finished seventh in the 100 breaststroke, and 13th in the 50 free. Junior diver Erin White earned honorable mention All-American honors last season by finishing 16th in the three-meter diving.
Head Coach John Taffe, who enters his 19th year at Springfield College, will begin this season as a five-time NEWMAC Coach of the Year. Taffe believes that this year's team possesses the appropriate mix of experience, depth, and youth. Taffe has high hopes of being able to contend for his eighth-consecutive NEWMAC title and to continue to improve at the national level.
Senior captain Emily Sheahan, junior Kallie Pottle, sophomore Michelle Reggio, and senior Melissa Nelson all return with national experience after participating in the NCAA Division III meet and should lead an experienced squad this season.
Other returners that will play important roles on this year's team include senior Kelley Ockerbloom, juniors Kristen Schadow and Liz Belmont, as well as sophomores Megan Cooney, Meghan Feran, and Meghan Kijanka. Newcomers that will have an immediate impact include Aimee Doe, Meredith Trumbull, and diver Janine DiGennaro.
