Springfield College has become one of the top Division III women’s lacrosse programs in New England. The Pride has posted 10-or-more wins in each of the last seven seasons, including 2007, and has reached the post-season in four of the last six years. The program is certainly moving in the right direction.

Springfield College recorded identical 12-6 marks in 2005 and 2006, each year winning the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) post-season championship, thus earning a berth into the NCAA Division III championship. SC has won three NEWMAC tournaments in the last six years (2002, 2005, and 2006). It also appeared in the NEWMAC title game in 2001, 2003, and 2004.

In her first two years as head coach (2005 and 2006), Katie Hawke was selected NEWMAC Coach of the Year. In 2006, she was also named the IWLCA Division III Berkshire Regional Coach of the Year. In addition, 2006 co-captains Holly Carmody and Christine Nicol were named IWLCA All-Berkshire Region First-Team. Carmody, Nicol, and Rachel Lampros were honored as All-NEWMAC First-Team selections. Carmody, SC’s all-time leader in goals (155) and total points (214), was also named the 2006 NEWMAC Player of the Year.

In 2007, Ashley Martell and Jaclyn Alessi were named NEWMAC All-First Team, while Rachel Lampros, goalkeeper Lauren McAulay, and Lisa Thomas were all named NEWMAC All-Second Team. Alessi and Martell were named Second Team IWLCA All-Berkshire Region. Lampros and Julia Kincade were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.
