No. 15 Wrestling Falls To Montclair State In Tiebreaker
MONTCLAIR, N.J., February 12, 2004 - Springfield College senior Justin Friend (Jefferson, N.H.) won his 125-pound match, pinning Montclair State’s John DeAngelis in 3:45, but the Pride fell to the Red Hawks on criteria, 24-24. Montclair won the match on the second tiebreaker, posting three pinfall victories to SC’s two.
SC freshman Michael Gaeta (Manalapan, N.J.) earned a victory in his 141-pound match as he pinned Montclair’s Anthony Iazetta in a time of 5:41.
Other winners for the Pride on Thursday night included junior Brian Hayes (Danbury, Conn.), who won his 149-pound match, junior Jerard Melito (Medford, N.Y.), who won his 157-pound match by the way of major decision, and sophomore William Koch (Hackettstown, N.J.), who captured his 165-pound match with a technical fall at the seven-minute mark.
