Women's Soccer Downs Coast Guard, 8-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., October 11, 2005 – Springfield College senior midfielder Sarah Killeen (Meriden, Conn.) scored two goals in just 40 seconds, during the 47th minute of the match as the Pride went on to defeat the United States Coast Guard Academy, 8-0, this evening (Oct. 11) in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action.

SC junior midfielder Annemarie Goodwin (Springfield, Mass.) scored the Pride’s first goal of the match with 34:16 remaining in the opening half, and added another score with 18:31 left to play in the contest.

The Pride outshot the Bears 23-2 on its way to winning its fourth-straight, and did not allow Coast Guard to get a shot off until the 17:30 mark of the second half.

Freshmen Lauren Peltier (Agawam, Mass.) and Delaney Cantrall (Santa Paula, Calif.) each contributed with a goal and an assist, while senior Amanda Nealon (Falmouth, Mass.) and junior Hallie Vail (Cumberland, Maine) each added a goal for the Pride.

Coast Guard senior goalie Stephanie Adams was credited with eight saves, while SC sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Petri (E. Granby, Conn.) picked up the win and her third consecutive shutout.

The Pride will next bring its 4-1 NEWMAC record to Clark as SC travels to Worcester, Mass., for yet another conference contest on Saturdy afternoon, October 15, in a 2:30 p.m. start.
