

Winners for Springfield College included senior quad-captain Erik Delehanty (Clinton, Conn.) at 157, and junior Chris Brown (East Hartford, Conn.) at heavyweight.
With the win, Cortland is now 2-0, while Springfield falls to 1-2. Cortland is wrestling Williams College at Springfield College later this afternoon.
The match began at the 184-pound weight classification. Cortland won the first two individual bouts before Brown defeated sophomore Joe Murphy (St. James, N.Y.) by a score of 3-2. The Red Dragons then won the next four matches, upping their lead to 23-3, before Delehanty defeated sophomore Will Brodfuehrer (Canastota, N.Y.), 8-5. Cortland then finished up with two more wins. There was only one pin on the afternoon, that coming at the 141-pound weight class as freshman Michael Esteves (Pleasantville, N.Y.) toppled James Squires (Melrose, Mass.) at 2:30 of the match. Squires was wrestling up a weight.
Up next for Springfield is the Budd Whitehill Invitational at Lycoming in Williamsport, Penn. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 11-12.
